ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2010 Gideon was selected as the very first recipient for the “Rising Star Award” presented by the UCF College of Medicine.
The faculty and administration selected Gideon from a pool of more than ten thousand alumni for this honor citing his outstanding work and achievements within UCF and the Central Florida Community. In 2018, he received UCF College of Medicine’s Dean’s Award which is the highest honor awarded to a faculty member.
Gideon remains active in the Central Florida community with his involvement in multiple organizations. He currently serves on the UCF Foundation Board of Directors
and is currently an interviewer for the UCF College of Medicine Admission’s Committee.
He sits on the Board of Directors for the Kerosene Lamp Foundation, founded by former NBA player Adonal Foyle,
and has been a recipient for Board Director of the Year.
Gideon is the Chief Medical Director for Star Athletics training team led by former Olympian, Dennis Mitchell. This team has been the training group for numerous Olympic medalists.
He is the former Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for Milesplit.com, the nations largest online high school and college track and field network. He is also a former member of Dwight Howard’s D12 Foundation Board of Advisory. In 2011, Gideon was the Official Event Physician for Dwight Howard’s Celebrity All-Star Game, which featured numerous NBA player, rapper Lil Wayne, and World Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather.
In 2012 he was selected by the FBI to participate in their distinguished FBI Citizen’s Academy
and completed this program in Washington D.C. and Quantico, Virginia.
In the Spring of 2014, Gideon was invited to be the Keynote Speaker of the UCF Commencement Ceremony with an audience of over 10,000 people.
Since that time he has been a platform speaker at multiple UCF graduations including the UCF College of Medicine.
